acute kidney infection: pyelonephritis
Patient: G, 6, Female
Established patient who presented with her father, on this
occasion quite sickly and lacking normal activity for her
age. Fever was present.
Chiropractic Management: Grace's vital
signs were checked. Abdominal exam was unremarkable. She
was checked for any spinal problems, and her father
instructed that if her condition did not improve in a few
hours to call the medical physician for consultation. Her
condition deteriorated and she was admitted to hospital
with severe kidney infection.
It is important not to treat a fever without investigating
possible causes. In this case, merely medicating to lower
fever (like commercials tell you to) may have compromised
patient safety.
This patient continued chiropractic care in our office
after medical recovery.
