pelvic kidney
Patient: female, 39
Established patient came in one day with extreme pain in
the abdomen after mowing the lawn.
Abdominal examination revealed tenderness in the right
lower quadrant, possibly associated with reproductive
system.
Chiropractic Management: I referred her to
the doctor who then referred her to the specialist. Scans
showed that her kidney, instead of being situated just
above the belt line, was down in the pelvis. Hence my
suspecting gynecological problems. Medical management was
limited to a "wait and see" approach.
Meanwhile, I checked her spine and adjusted any problems,
and also performed gentle lifts to her lower abdomen. This
relieved the pain by the next 24 hours. The procedure was
repeated twice more over the next few months, and no
problems have been reported since on subsequent check ups.
The kidney may frequently be malformed or situated anywhere
in the abdomen. If it moves and presses on delicate
structures surrounding, it will cause pain and needs to be
lifted off. Simple as that. Of course, life threatening
pathology is ruled out first.
