carpal tunnel syndrome

The head line should read 'Plasterer sees Witch-Doctor'...?

Jamie had never heard of "carpal tunnel syndrome" (CTS) until he developed pain in the wrists and hand 2 years ago. Being a a plasterer by trade, he was accustomed to overhead work and strain on his hands and arms.

So bad did the constant hand/wrist pain become that he was diagnosed with CTS, and he wore immobilising braces on his wrists every night.
He then heard about chiropractic and came to see me. Within a few days he slept without pain. Within 2 weeks he ditched the braces. Within months he experienced no pain, no return of his "carpal tunnel syndrome".

I did not "manipulate" or adjust his hands, arms or wrists. Nor did I massage the muscles of the arm or hands. I adjusted the atlas, the first bone in the neck, and the rest of his spine.

Therefore, in the strictest sense, he never had CTS. There was little wrong with his wrist. And the only thing missing from his lifestyle was chiropractic and upper cervical specific adjustments.

Unsurprisingly, no doctor ever suggested chiropractic, as they are virtually untrained in detction of wrist problems that originate in the neck. It was vertebral dysfunction that caused Jamie's condition, and that is why he has allowed me to tell you his story. He also tells me that he feels better emotionally and mentally "within himself". After two years of suffering and gradually seizing up movement in his whole body, it is little wonder.

To this day, Jamie says "Joe, you are my witch-doctor", referring to the age old argument that chiropractic was taboo with his medical opinions and that the adjustment appears to work like magic.
